Flower Street

Soms ben je bezig met een patroon en dan kun je er géén genoeg van krijgen. En wanneer er dan ook nog iemand een voorzetje geeft, kan het zomaar heel snel gaan.
Sometimes you can't get enough of a pattern. You just need to work on it one more time. And... when someone says they want something like it, things can develop pretty quick!

Ik ben zelf wel 4x met deze shawl begonnen. Eerst was het te druk, daarna te breed en na berekeningen had ik te weinig garen..
Degene die de voorzet gaf, zou zelf ook mee breien en eerlijk gezegd was ze sneller dan mij...

I've started this shawl about 4 times; first the pattern was too much, then it was too wide and after due calculations the yarn wasn't sufficient.
The lady that hinted about the new design would join me in knitting and honestly worked faster than I did.

Ik heb toen gelukkig nog 2 proefbreisters gevonden en die waren ook goed bezig!

Ondertussen was er garen besteld en ik kon ook aan de slag. Maar al snel kwam ik er achter dat het wel een erg kort shawltje zou worden. Best jammer, want dat was niet de bedoeling. Uiteindelijk kwam het goed van pas; samen met de proefbreisters kwamen er 3 varianten uit: Small, Medium & Large.

Luckily I was able to attract 2 test knitters for this design and they were pretty quick too.

In the meantime, I had ordered some yarn and I got going too. I was soon to find out the yarn would not be enough. It ended up a very short shawl. Kind of sad because that wasn't the intention, and the yarn was very pretty and soft.
In the end, in combination with the testknitters it all turned out well: now we had 3 sizes! Small, Medium and Large.

The Second

Op een dag kreeg ik een opdracht van WereldWol. Of ik voor haar een sjaal wilde breien in Angel Lace van The Natural Dye Studio. Dat wilde ik wel.
Ze wilde graag de Laminaria gebreidt hebben. Dat kan natuurlijk. Daarmee is er wel iets gebeurd wat ik eigenlijk niet doe: een ontwerp twéé keer breien. Nu was mijn eerste sjaal sowieso al een beetje anders omdat ik toen 3 driehoeken heb gebreidt. Deze keer werd het het originele ontwerp in lichtblauw en lichtgroen.
One day I was asked to knit a shawl for WereldWol. It was to be done in Angel lace by The Natural Dye Studio. I was game.
The design she chose was the Laminaria. Ofcourse. That meant that I was about to knit a design for the second time, that is something I hardly ever do! The first time I had added another triangle, this time it would only be the original design. In light blue and light green.

Dit is een foto waarop de goede kleuren het beste te zien zijn. Ik heb de sjaal dubbel geblockt, zodat hij helemaal symetrisch is en het beste tot zijn recht komt.
Bovendien kan je op de eerste foto zien dat ik de tussen punten ook mee geblockt heb, zodat het open patroon ook beter te zien is.
This is a picture that is the best representation of the true colours. I've blocked the shawl double, so that it would be completely symetrical. Also I could block the points inbetween, as you can see better in the first picture. That way even the open worked lace is more visible.
