Mini Waves

You find someone who admires your work and wants more than 1.

So I had to knit another Black Breeze but now in a smaller size. I did, and adapted the pattern a bit. Now there is, between the waves, a bit of fagotting. No idea what that translates to into dutch, but hé.. it's pretty:

Test Knit

In the past Springtime I've been very active on the knitting department. I had various running projects, but some remaind secret.
I was test knitting 2 shawls for Dutch Knitting Design, she will use them as an example for her (soon to be available) online knitting pattern book.

The first shawl has been documented due to a
mistake that had some big consequences during repair. Pattern: Lilacs in Spring
Design: Dutch Knitting Design
Yarn: Rowan Kidsilk Haze Lila
Needle: 4 mm
Weight: ~90 gr
Finished: July '09

Kijk maar: The second shawl is something completely different. Not only in shape but mainly in structure and finishing. I'll say only this: on the second to last needle there were 1920 stitches....
Look here: ..
Pattern: Frische Fische
Design: Dutch Knitting Design
Yarn: Schoppel-Wolle Zauberbal Tropical Fish
Needle: 3,5 mm
Weight: ~137 gr
Finished: July '09

In short: these designs will be available soon on the DKD site.

Bracken

Wat een rare naam he? Bracken. Funny name, Bracken. I didn't even knew what it meant, but I liked the yarn and the colour. It means the same as Fern, as the plants. The colours are very similar to the plant: light green with brown bits. It was a bit pricy, but hé, it was just my colour.
On Ravelry I'd seen a beatifyl shawl called Primavera in the Friends Activity list. I'd just bought the book with the pattern in it, so I only had to order some beads. I had green in mind, but that became a bit dull. So my beadbox had some brown/orange beads and added those. I had to be carefull not to use too much. The original is a round tablecloth, so that's why it's fanshaped right now.

So, the one half is done. I only have to pick up the cast-on stitches and knit the other half. Not in such a hurry as this one, there are still enough other projects waiting to be knit.

In the end, my shawl is very different than the one Susanna has made.

Sometimes there are those days in which you don't want to do anything but they turn out great! Yesterday was thát type of day. We had a day out in a local swimmingpool planned, and I know when I get there, it will be fun. There's just that little treshold to climb over..
Me and my friend and our kids had a great time and lots of fun.
When I got home and was fuzzy all over, I went to the LYS for a little chat, and only got home to hear I had just missed the friend that would come over for a visit. Called her on my mobile as we had no internet, no tv and nó phone for a couple of days, and luckily she was still in the neighbourhood. We'd met on Ravelry and it was lots of fun to talk shop.
She gave me a wonderfull gift: the book by Sharon Miller; Heirloom knitting. Jeannette, you're so kind! Thank you.
Soon she went on her way, with husband and kid, to continue her holidayvacation. Thanks for coming.

After supper/diner it was time to go to the Stitch'n'Bitch evening in Leeuwarden. I had a réally good time with all of my friends there, sitting outside of the café, chatting, laughing and me being jealous of all those motorcycle riders that went by.. Except of those stupid jerks that won't wear protection/suit. Linda remarked very clearly that their next wheels will be with an attached chair... she's absolutely right.

(note to self: save up for a motorcycle... sóón)
Anyway, it was about 10-ish when we all went home, I sat in my car driving home singing loudly with the latest songs of Madonna...
La vita é bella!
