Muness...

 In de vorige post heb ik bericht over de Muness. Het ontwerp wat ik heb gemaakt en heb mogen breien voor WereldWol.

Helaas zijn er veel fouten in het patroon terecht gekomen. Omdat er 2 breisters waren die metéén waren begonnen kwam dat al snel boven drijven.

In the previous post I mentioned my design Muness. I've designed it and knitted the example for WereldWol.
Regrettably there were mistakes in the pattern and because 2 knitters had started right away, they popped up quite quickly.

 Breien is makkelijk voor mij. Erg makkelijk. Ondanks dat ik dus genoeg aantekeningen had gemaakt, gingen er tijdens het vormen van het patroon veel dingen mis. Ik weet dat eigenlijk van te voren en dat geeft stress. Door de stress gaat het ook verkeerd en voilá; een vicieuze cirkel.

Knitting is easy for me. Very easy. Despite my many notes and remarks, during writing a lot went wrong. I know that that happens, that gives me stress. And subsequently I make more mistakes. E presto! No way back.

 Dus zat er maar 1 ding op. Nog een keer breien mét de aantekeningen van de andere breisters erbij.

So, one thing left to do. Knit it another time and using all the notes from the other knitters and see what happens.

 Mijn exuses voor alle breisters die dit patroon hebben gekocht bij Wereldwol. Op de beurs, in de webshop en dergelijke. Er wordt aan gewerkt en zo spoedig mogelijk gecorrigeerd.

Yarn: Fyberspates Scrumptious Lace "Water" (1000m/100gr) 69gr
Needle: 3,5mm
Size: Finished measurements (blocked): centre back 87 cm/34”, mid center 120 cm/47” wide and along the edging (tip to tip) is 3,5 meter/11,5 feet.

 Op dit moment wordt er door een testbreister OOK gewerkt aan RECHTHOEKIGE versie van Muness. In dat patroon zitten kraaltjes verwerkt. Meer informatie daarover volgt binnenkort.
Dat patroon is dan verkrijgbaar bij WERELDWOL (webshop en beurzen).
Mijn versie wordt gebreid met Malabrigo Lace Brisa en paarse kralen, de testbreister gebruikt Fyberspates Gleem lace in donker roze en licht paarse kralen.

At this moment another testknitter is ALSO working on the RECTANGLE version of Muness. In that pattern beads are used. More info on that will appear soon.
That pattern will be available at Wereldwol too.
Mine is knit in Malabrigo Lace Brisa with purple beads, the testknitter is using dark pink Gleem Lace from Fyberspates and soft purple beads.

Purple Breeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze...

Ik mocht weer een shawl breien! En de opdrachtgeefster koos voor een van mijn eigen ontwerpen. Het leuke voor mij was dat ik altijd al met dit garen wilde werken en nu mocht het! Het is een lekkere paarse kleur en ik vond het prettig dat de draad niet getwijnd was. 

 I was given another commission to knit a shawl. She had chosen one of my own designs. The fun part for me was that I had been longing to use this yarn for a long time. It is Iris Purple and I really like it that the yarn isn't twined. (a single strand).

 Ik heb de shawl iets smaller gemaakt, ipv de 11 herhalingen in de breedte, heb ik maar 7 gebruikt. Hij is ook niet zo lang.

 I adapted the shawl by using only 7 of the 11 repeats (width) to make it more narrow. I also did less repeats lengthwise.

Purple Lace

Ik kreeg e-mail uit Amerika. Er was iemand die mij op Ravelry had gezien en ze kwam zelf niet aan breien toe. Of ik voor haar dan de Laminaria wilde breien. Natuurlijk!
Ze koos een verrukkelijk garen uit, Cashmere/Zijde in de meest fantastische kleur. Ik heb al eerder met deze kleur gebreidt en het is echt ongelooflijk, zo diep rijk paars ze dat garen kunnen verven.

I got e-mail from America. Someone had noticed my knitting on Ravelry, and because she was a bit too busy to knit it herself, she asked me if I was able to knit her the Laminaria. But ofcourse I could.
She chose the most awesome yarn, Cash/silk and the most stunning colour of deep purple. I've already knitted with a similar colour, and I'm still amazed how rich they can dye that yarn.

Ik heb al eerder een laminaria gebreid, eerst deze en toen de driehoekige. Deze keer was het toch anders; hij moest recht worden. En dat werd hij! Het was even opletten dat ik niet te ver doorbreide, want hij werd gespiegeld en er moest nog genoeg overblijven voor de andere helft. Na de opzet metéen begonnen met het ster patroon, toen de bloemen en de rand. Daarna de steken opgepakt en metéén weer de sterren gebreid. Zo zie je bijna niet dat er een 'naad' in het midden zit.

It is not the first time I have knitted the Laminaria, first I made this one, and recently this original one. This time it had to be a rectangled scarf. I had to monitor that I didn't knit to far, it would be knitted mirrored. After casting on, I immediately started the star pattern, then the flowers and the edging. Picking up the stitches and knitting stars rightaway, more flowers and the edging. That way you can hardly see the middle of the shawl.

Voor het eerst moest ik een beetje uitstel aanvragen op een deadline, ivm Chris. Maar hij is afgekomen en nú onderweg naar de nieuwe eigenaar. Ik ben een tikkie jaloers; het garen is ZO zacht en de kleur zó mooi. Wat een luxe...
For the very first time I had to ask for a bit more time before the deadline, due to the illness of Chris. But it was done in time and already on it's way to the new owner. I'm a bit jealous; the yarn is SO soft and the colour só pretty. What a luxury..

Traditie / Tradition

Een tijdje terug, in april, heb ik een cursus Traditioneel Estlands breien gevolgd bij Wolhemel. De cursus werd gegeven door The Dutch Knitters; Carla en Hilly.
Ik had deze sjaal toen al op de pennen maar was erg nieuwsgierig of het me zou lukken om deze sjaal op een traditionele manier in elkaar te zetten.
A while back, I took a class Traditional Estonian Knitting at Wolhemel. The Class was taught by The Dutch Knitters; Carla and Hilly.
This shawl was already on the needles and I was curious to see if I could do it; construct this shawl in the traditional way.

Het garen is geweldig. Ik heb dit een keer geruild voor wat garen dat ik ook al geruild had. Het is Posh garen, de kleur Sumptuous. Het is niet meer in roulatie.

The yarn is gorgeous; I've traded it for some other yarn I had traded. It's Posh Yarn, the colour Sumptuous. (Cashmere/silk 1/12 NM). It is discontinued.

Er zitten totaal zo'n 778 nupps in, en ruim 120 kralen.
There's a total of 778 nupps in it, and over a 120 beads.

De rand is dus apart gebreidt en met de hand aangenaaid. Een hele klus, maar traditie, en wel erg mooi. Je krijgt een open en luchtig randje tussen de body en de rand. Dat krijg je niet wanneer je steken oppakt en de rand aanbreidt. De rand is dan ook veel ruimer en wordt gebreidt in 2 delen.
The edging is knit separately and sown on by hand. Quite a task, but it's tradition and very pretty. You get an open and airy part between the body of the shawl and the edging. When you knit the edging on, you don't get that. The edging is also knitted in two parts and longer then neccesary.

De sjaal is voor m'n tante. Ze is er erg blij mee. Misschien binnenkort een foto dat ze hem om heeft. Haar dochter is fotografe, dus dat gaat vast lukken.
This shawl is for my aunt. She's very happy with it. Soon maybe a picture while she's wearing it, her daughter is a photographer so that will be alright.

Yasmin

A new design by Wolhemel, it will be available on their site soon . I had the honor to name this lace shawl, and I was inspired by the rich colour and the name of the yarn. Pattern: Yasmin
