Heb ik heel internet tot in Wenen gezocht naar die kraaltjes van mijn vorige log. Donkergroen, zilver aan de binnenkant, 4,5 mm en 17 gr per doosje. Kom ik uiteindelijk bij De Kralendoos terecht. Metéén 7 doosjes besteld, zo rond de 1640 stuks, en afwachten tot ze thuisbezorgd werden. Ik doe het pakketje open... hè?
Ze zijn heel anders... glanzend.... Maar wel mooi.
So, searched the internet for those beads in my last log, I even ended up in Vienna. In the end I found some darkgreen, silverinside, 4,5mm beads in Holland. Ordered 7 boxes, totalling ~1640 beads. I open up the package, and what a suprise.. they're completely different. But look how pretty...

Eigenlijk heb ik dus nu ~1640 foute kraaltjes, maar ze zijn wel veel zee-iger voor de shipwreckshawl dan die andere. Hier zit zelfs een blauwe gloed in. Dus vol goede moed een doosje of 3 op het garen gepriegeld en kijk...
Now I'm 'stuck' with all those wrong beads. I do like them, they're much more oceanic than the ones I had first. More blue. I threaded them onto the yarn, about 3 boxes to try.

Dát ziet er mooi uit! En nu in het werk zelf....

Gemist.

Terwijl zij, en zij, en zij ook, en zij wil nog gaan, de MAXX onveilig hebben gemaakt en zijn thuisgekomen met mooie dingen heb ik alleen buiten in de grabbelbak gekeken en ben met lege handen doorgelopen.
Ik heb bij de Duif kraaltjes gehaald, maar ze hadden nog maar 2 doosjes in mijn kleur! Wat een verrassing. Bah. Het patroon, Shipwreck, vraagt om vijfduizend kraaltjes. Dat gaat me te ver, ik heb er nu ~ 500. Ze moeten nog nieuwe bestellen, dus de sjaal komt voorlopig niet af. Bah.
Ik brei wel verder, en dan stap ik af en toe maar over op de Myrtle Leaf.... (in zwarte Tencel).Mentioned girls obove have raided the local MAXX and got home with lovely sockyarn and Rowan Fabrics, I had a look and continued walking emptyhanded. Two stores up the road had some beads I wanted to buy for Shipwreck. Of course my favored colour had only 2 tins left. They have to order in some newones, but that will take weeks! That shawl isn't finished soon! D*mn. I will continue knitting and also on my new Myrtle Leaf in black Tencel

Knitty

As a lot of you know, the new Knitty Spring is online. My friend pointed me to the Aeolian Shawl, but I fell in love with Shipwreck.
Honestly: I ditched the Bleeding Hearts, it didn't turn out as I wanted it to be, I put the Fichu in hibernation and casted on immediately.
After finishing the strawberry pattern and being well on my way with the bleeding hearts (...) pattern, I found out that I had totally messed up the strawberry. Not that I couldn't do it, it was just that I had switched needles and totally forgot to finish the pattern.
Frogged a bit, than continued again with the bleeding hearts. I was knitting quite happy, so happy, I knitted to much. So frogging again, picking up and went on my way.
I'm already at the Madeira pattern. It won't go so quickly as the stitchcount is adding up.
I'll be using white frosted beads, but if I can get any other colour, blue and green, I'll be adding those too, probably. Here is comes. Pattern: Shipwreck

Na 2 projecten opzij te hebben gezet, ben ik metéén begonnen aan Shipwreck (Knitty). Ik vond het zo'n mooi patroon, al ben ik al 2x de mist in gegaan. Door een naalden wissel ben ik helemaal vergeten het aardbeipatroon af te breien, dus uithalen. Later bij de Bleeding Hearts was ik te lang doorgegaan, dus ook uit halen. Inmiddels ben ik bij het Madeira patroon aangekomen.

Queen on the Catwalk

Nou, ze is er klaar voor. Ze lachtte niet, pure zenuwen of het 'goed genoeg' was, wat mama had gemaakt. Dat viel op school al van haar af, want de eerste moeder herkende haar meteen als assepoester. Geslaagd!
De modeshow is vanmorgen, zonder ouders, vanmiddag gaat ze op pad (verjaardag) met opa en oma, dus die jurk komt vandaag NIET meer uit. Well, she's ready. She doesn't smile in the pictures, pure nerves for this morning. Once on the playground at school, the first mother that walked by, recognized her as Cinderella, that was a load of her shoulders.
The Catwalk for toddlers (4-6 y) is happening thís morning, no parents allowed. This afternoon a birthday trip with grandparents, I think the dress won't come off till tonight.

Eindelijk klaar.

In november '08 had ik een post met gezegdes: Something old, something blue, something borrowed, something new.
We zijn een mooi tijdje verder, maar ik heb nog maar 2 van de 4 projecten af.
"Something old" is nu eindelijk af. Hij was erg lang op 95%, omdat ik niet wist wat voor mouwen ik er in wilde. Ik ga hem aan mijn schoonzus geven. Ze is gehandicapt, en omdat deze spencer geen zomen heeft, is hij erg flexibel en makkelijk aan te trekken. Ze is zaterdag jarig, dan krijgt ze hem. Hopelijk vind ze hem mooi.Patroon: Frost Vest

Ik had hem origineel gebreid voor Sean's juf, maar daar heb ik wat anders voor gebreid. Het lijkt me nu een uitstekend kadoo voor mijn schoonmoeder. Geel is wel haar kleur.

The old project (because the yarn has been lying around for more then a year) is now done and ready for my SIL. She's fysically challenged and the no-seams will be good for stretch to put it on.
The Honeybee will be for her mother, my MIL. Hope they both like my work.

Voor mijn nieuwe website moet ik nu voorbeelden gaan breien. Om te laten zien wat ik kan, wat er allemaal mogelijk is en hoe het er uit kan gaan zien.
Aangezien de bruidsjaals nog niet klaar zijn, heb ik eerst een klein project afgemaakt. Het is een baby mutsje, 0-3 maand

Naald: 1,5 mm! (38 st per 10 cm)

Gewicht: ~6 gram
Model: een toegetakelde Babyborn van Bridget (sorry). Het patroon is wel aangepast; het kantwerk is anders, en het kraagje is aangepast, zodat het bandje niet in de nek snijd. Omdat ik zulke kleine naalden gebruikte, kon ik de pin-tuck uit het patroon niet uitvoeren. Het garen had gewoon niet genoeg rek en ik kreeg de naald er niet meer tussen. It's a baby's bonnet. For my website as an example of my skills as a lace knitter. I adapted the pattern because of the needlesize, I couldn't do the pin-tuck. This beautiful bonnet for babies, 0-3 months. Very, véry soft to the touch.

Beurs van de Beurs.

Nou, zo'n Handwerkbeurs kan je behoorlijk slopen zeg! Petje af voor de standhouders; drie volle dagen en dat nog zonder voorbereiding meegerekend.

Leuk was het wel. Impulsief zijn, zoals ik ben, is erg lastig, want vóór ik de beurs helemaal over was gelopen was mijn geld eigenlijk al op. Ik had graag nog wat Habu willen kopen, Rowan bij Klazien's Kreaties, zijde bij de Belgische meneer, mooi garen bij de Zeven Katten, of nog meer Zitron van Trikoo. Ook géén Isa... huppelepup garen waarvan ik de naam niet meer weet... of een boek van Handwerkwereld.

Well, a hard day at the Craftsfair in Zwolle (NL). My compliments to the stand-runners, 3 days of hard work and even more in preparation!
It was fun. Being very impulsive, I ran out of money even before I saw the whole show! I wanted to buy a lot of things, Habu, Rowan, Silk from Belgium, Zitron, and some yarn that starts with Isa... but don't quite remember the correct name.

Spotted on the last Craftsfair, but didn't buy it then. Now, I did: Tencel, black.

De reden waarom ik zó maar door mijn budget heen was, is omdat ik niet op de beurs kon wachten.
Uit Engeland kwam namelijk afgelopen donderdag :
