Bridget's oog / eye

Vandaag konden we met Bridget voor controle naar het ziekenhuis. Eigenlijk hoefde het pas in november, maar dát was me wat te ver weg. Meteen om kwart over 8 aan de beurt. Het meten ging al een stuk beter, en het lezen van afstand ging ook goed. Haar bots oogje is nog steeds +2 maar zover de dokter kon zien, corrigeerd ze het zelf 'goed'. Op school zit ze nu echter dichter bij het bord, omdat ze het allemaal niet meer zo goed zag....
Over 6 weken moeten we weer terug komen en dan gaat de oogarts er ook nog een keer naar kijken.

Today we had a new appointment with the eyedoctor at the hosptial. Originally the appointment was in November, but I wanted it earlier. It all went a lot better, and the measurements results were more positive. Her eye is still +2 which means she can't look that well in the distance. The doctor told us, she thought Bridget corrected it herself, so she doesn't want to do anything about it. We have to come back in 6 weeks again.

De huid van de oog is nog steeds verkleurd, en het oogje is ook zichtbaar kleiner. Gelukkig heeft ze nog héél veel groei-jaren voor zich. Ze mag ondertussen weer fietsen, sporten en zwemmen. Met mate natuurlijk.
The skin of the eye is still a different colour, the eye is visibly smaller then the other. Luckily she has a lot of growing years ahead of her. In the meantime she was allowed to cycle again, do some sports and swimming.

We zijn dus ERG blij dat het goed af is gelopen met haar. We're VERY happy all's well with our little girl.

With this skein and the one below I'm going to knit the Shetland Lace Shawl (A Gathering of Lace). I've recharted the border pattern and put in some patterns from The Queen Susan Shawl.
The center pattern WILL NOT be knit with the Sage, the border and edging are knitted with the Slate Tonal. The yardage was a bit too thick, so I ordered another skein of Slate Tonal.

Wolhemel

Als ik jou was, zou ik nog SNEL wat bestellen bij Wolhemel! Het gaat zo hard met de voorraad.
Ongelooflijk dat ze er mee ophouden.
Ik had al wat alpaca besteld, en safran in lichtblauw en licht groen. Maar toch ook nog maar 4 bollen kidsilk in appelgroen gekocht. Nu kan het nog! If I were you I'd order me some yarn at the Wolhemel. While you can! It's stock is going out fast. I had ordered some alpaca and safran in light blue and light green. But later also ordered 4 balls of applegreen kidsilk. Ik heb veel te danken aan de Wolhemel. Ik mocht diverse garens uitproberen, modellen breien voor de Wolhemel shop of de Handwerkbeurs. Ik ga Angelique en Marina als zodanig wel missen. I've got a lot to thank for with Wolhemel. They've let me try out several yarns, patterns, designs. Also for the Wolhemel shop or for craft shows. I'll miss them as such, a lot.

Quadrata

Een hele tijd geleden ben ik gevraagd voor WereldWol om een nieuwe sjaal met kantpatronen te ontwerpen. Marieke kreeg een nieuw garen en een voorbeeld is altijd prettig om te kijken hoe het breit.
A while back I was asked by WereldWol to design a new shawl with lace patterns. Marieke had some new laceyarn coming in, and it's always easier to see how it knits up.

Ik zat op een avond naar de film "300" te kijken en zag een koningin op een kussen liggen met een prachtig patroon er op. Dat was het eerste stukje van het ontwerp: het vierkantje met vierkantjes er in.
One night I was watching the movie "300" and saw the queen lying in a field on a beautiful patterned pilloe. That was the first part of the design: a square with little squares.

Om het ook een beetje te varieren heb ik er nog een tussen patroon bij gemaakt. Er is zelfs nog een derde patroonblok, maar dat sneuvelde.
Een eenvoudige rand er aan en een prachtig gekleurd garen maakt het plaatje compleet.
To make it a bit more variegated I also made another pattern to go along with the first. For a short while there was even a third, but that one didn't make it.
A subtle edging and a lovely coloured yarn to make it a stunning shawl.

In dit plaatje hierboven komen de kleuren het beste tot hun recht. Prachtige diepe kleuren.
In the picture above the awesome colours come out best. They're really rich and deep.

Ofcourse it is also possible to use a patternblock single and make a variegated blanket with it.
