Vlindershawl / True Hearts

Soms is een patroon zo mooi, dan heeft het weinig nodig. Dat was het geval in deze shawl.
Het gaat om een vlinderpatroon.
Sometimes a pattern is so beautiful, it doesn't need anything else.
That was the case with this shawl with butterfly or hearts pattern.

Een mooi laddertje er tussen en aan de lange randen.
Fagotting on either side and inbetween.

En net als in The Print O' The Wave shawl heb ik voor deVlinder-shawl gekozen om hem in 2 delen te breien en in het midden te sluiten. Zo vliegen de vlindertjes tijdens het dragen langs de armen omhoog.
Like in The Print O' The Wave shawl I chose for the True Hearts-shawl to knit it in 2 parts and grafting them in the middle. That way during wearing this the butterflies fly up the arms.

Het is een prachtige lichte shawl, er zitten tenslotte 532 vlindertjes ingebreid.
It must be a lovely shawl, there are 532 hearts in it..

Ondertussen ga ik verder met nog 3 projecten... Er komt nog meer.

I hate mondays

My alltime favorite.

Second to that one is the one where you see Jon sitting behind the bushes, the mail man walks into the garden and then Jon attacks. After all the mail is scattered around the garden, Jon comfords the poor man with the words: It's Garfields day off...

He, Garfield, had his birthday 19th of June. He´s looking mighty fine for a cat his age (31).

Zoals jullie wel in de gaten hebben, ben ik best een stripfanaat.
Donald op 1, Garfield op 2.
Mijn favoriete strip van Garfield is wanneer hij zegt: Het is vast maandag. Hij kijkt in de spiegel en ziet... Snoopy.
Goeie 2e is de strip dat je Jon in de struiken ziet zitten, bij de deur. De postbode loopt de tuin in, Jon valt aan.. De post ligt door de hele tuin en Jon troost de man met de woorden: Garfield heeft vrij vandaag...

Heerlijk. Het is de verjaardag van Garfield, 19 juni. Hij gaat al lang mee, maar gaat hopelijk nog lang door. Gefeliciteerd!

Abandon Ship...

Ik heb een project in de steek gelaten. Letterlijk. Ik had er effe geen zin meer in. Bovendien vond ik het wel groot genoeg. Eigenlijk jammer want ik was er super enthousiast aan begonnen.
Het was een grote zoektocht naar de goede kralen en nu hij klaar is, zijn ze perfect. Yes! Abandon ship. While you still can!
I've abandoned the sinking ship. And that's a pity, because I really wanted to knit this when I started. Searching for the right beads, and in the end they're perfect...Zoals iedereen kan zien heb ik een 'liefde' voor stoelen. We hebben er best veel verschillende.
Helaas niet als bij de foto's op Knitty het bijpassende strand, deze strandstoel is het beste wat ik heb... As all of you have seen these last months, I have a thing for chairs. We've got quite a lot.

Geen kip

In de hele wereld was het KIP dag (knitting in public).
Eerlijk gezegd brei ik zo veel en zo vaak, ik heb juist besloten om juist die dag een keertje NIET te breien maar lekker buiten te zitten met een goed boek.
Alhoewel, boek.... Bovendien is het een mannenglossy. Maar ja, lachen was het wel.
En.. er was geen kip thuis: zoon op de zorgboerderij, grote zoon aan het vissen, en dochterlief was aan het spelen met een buurjongetje. Man was op Waldrock.
Het rijk voor me alleen, zon op de bol en relax!

In the whole world it was KIP day. (knitting in public).
To be fair, I knit all the time, so I decided it was time for a day off. Sitting in the sun with a good book! Er... book... It's a male glossy magazine, but it was good fun!
And, no one at home. Small son at the farm (for kids with adhd), big son out fishing with a friend, darlingdaughter playing with a neighbours-child. Husband at Waldrock..
The whole house for myself, in the sun and relaxing.

Recently, MoniqueB. had started her own new company named Kantwerk (only in dutch). She's knitting lace projects for people who want something handknit, original and wearable.
She blogs about it, and has some nice projects on her resumé.
Business is going well, só well, that for the time being, blogging is out.
Her dayjob as a mailwalker (TNT) is taking a break from making beautiful lacy, airy shawls that people like to show off.

So, MoniqueB. is NOT off the map in blogland, just taking a break to knit a lót of beautiful lace, blogging about it later.
Don't worry, she will be available for mail and good fun!

Kleur

Hoi,

ik had op Ravelry gelezen dat zij haar Rowan Kidsilk had geverfd, omdat de kleuren die ze had nooit zou gebruiken of dragen.
Nu had ik op de handwerkbeurs 'witte' kid-silk van Drops gekocht. Nix mis mee, maar niet wit genoeg. Dus de Kool Aid uit de kast gehaald en geprobeerd. Moet je kijken wat ik geverfd heb:

I'd seen her trials of dyeing Rowan Kidsilk on Ravelry, because she didn't like the colours she had in her stash...
Now, I'd bought some 'white' kidsilk from Drops on the Craftsfair last februari. Nothing wrong with it, but not quite white enough. So I pulled out the Kool aid from the cupboard and tried it. Look what I've got now: De groene is gemaakt met Lemon-Lime. Omdat ik te weinig vloeistof had is hij niet dekkend geworden, de wit is nog zichtbaar.
De paarse is gemaakt met BlackBerry, en ook die is niet helemaal dekkend geverfd door te weinig vloeistof. The green was made with Lemon Lime, because i didn't use enough liquid the colour didn't totally cover the yarn.
The same for the purple: Blackberry, not completely covered all the white.

Dat zijn 4 'nieuwe' bollen!
These are 4 'new' balls of yarn!
Edit: The purple isn't as purple on the ball, it's more like old pink. Very beautiful.

nieuw garen en nieuwe projecten.

Zo, effe pauze..
Ik kreeg vandaag zomaar in eens een dóós vol met wol van Vera. Ze zit ook op Ravelry en had garen over. Dus kreeg ik spontaan een doos vol. Er zat prachtige katoen in van Pingouin, nog vele losse bollen katoen en wat onbestemd garen. Dank je Vera! De pingouin is echt prachtig, ik ga eens opzoek naar een mooi project daarvoor. (misschien wel voor mezelf!).
En ondertussen ben ik aan een nieuw project begonnen: een zwarte kantsjaal. Logisch, zwart, al is het mijn eerste sjaal in deze kleur.
Yarn: Cashmere/Zijde/Katoen in een onbekende verhouding.
Patroon: Japanese Waves (of Feather and Fan gelijkend patroon).
Vorm: langwerpig.
Pen: 3,5 mm.

De Bloem?
Een aparte Chrysanthemum (erg fijn gesneden blad) die ik dit jaar weer in mijn tuin verwacht.
Ik kan niet wachten tot alles weer gaat bloeien.

I recieved from Vera a big box with yarn, a lot of unidentified cottons and some beautiful Pingouin Black Cotton! Thanks Vera!
I'm also knitting the Japanese waves (or feather and fan) in a rectangular shawl in Cash/Cotton/Silk.

The springflower? It's a new type of Chrysanthemum with small cut petals. Very pretty. I'll expect this in my garden this spring.
