Spread your wings...

Na het euvel in de vorige post, is het toch nog goed gekomen! De shawl is Peacock Feathers van D. Siemens. Een prachtig patroon en mijn opdrachtgeefster had in Duitsland hele mooie kidsilk in diep donkerblauw gevonden. Het is iets dunner dan Rowan Kidsilk en dat scheelde! Het breide heerlijk en ik hoefde minder te niezen. Ook véél minder pluis!

After the trouble in my last post it all came right again. Nothing shows! This is the shawl by D. Siemens; Peacock Feathers. The woman who commissioned this shawl had purchased some lovely deep blue kidsilk from Germany. It's a bit skinnier than Rowan Kidsilk and made me sneeze a lot less. It didn't shed as much either.

Technisch gezien in 14 'dagen' gebreid, maar hier zat niet een harde deadline op. Dus ik kon zelf ook rustig genieten van het breien zelf.

There was no hard deadline on this shawl so i had the time to really enjoy the knitting itself. Technically it only took 14 'days'...

Deze shawl gaat morgen op weg naar Denemarken. Ze is er nu al blij mee...

Ik hoop dat ik deze week de 3e nieuwsbrief van Kantwerk kan uitbrengen. Deze zomer is het er helaas niet van gekomen.. Sorry.

het is weer eens zover... / whoop there it is...

Ben je lekker aan het breien... Af en toe het werk even aaien, alleen al omdat het zo mooi is, zo'n prachtige kleur heeft en vooral erg groot wordt...
En dan, terwijl je denkt dat alles klopt, zie je het in eens... Een fout. Een héle dikke fout.
Het patroon gaat in eens links af, terwijl het gewoon recht door moet!

Oh ja. Het garen. Kidsilk natuurlijk.. Zucht. You're having fun knitting a project, and everything is coming along nicely. The shawl is getting bigger and bigger, the colour of the yarn is gorgeous, and every now and then you just pet it because it feels so nice.
Still thinking everything is fine, you pet and see... A flaw. A big flaw. The pattern took a left turn, while it should be going forward...

Oh, and guess the yarn.
Kidsilk. Ofcourse.
8 pennen uithalen is een optie, weet je nog???, maar daar is geen tijd voor. Dus, heel voorzichtig pluk ik het garen los over 10 steken. Zie foto hierboven. Na 2 verwoede pogingen is het niet gelukt om het weer goed te krijgen. Waarom lubbert het zo. Ik kwam geen steken te kort, ze gingen alleen de verkeerde kant op...
Bij poging 3 het werk neer gelegd op een wit papier en zorgvuldig opgebouwd.

Frogging 8 rows in this yarn can be done, remember?, but there is no time for that. So, very carefully plucked the yarn loose over 10 stitches. See the picture above. After two fruitless attempts it looked really weird. Why is it so saggy? I had no shortage of stitches, they just went in the wrong direction.
At attempt 3 I layed down the knitting on a white piece of papier and reknit the whole thing.
Alleen nog de rand te gaan, dan is ie klaar. Wel blijven opletten! hahaha.

Only the edging to go, then it will be done. Have to pay more attention! hahaha

De moeite...

Wat zal ik een moeite doen om een ontwerp te maken, ik ben er al dagen mee bezig, als al het werk al voor mij gedaan is???
http://www.knittingbeyondthehebrides.org/lace/peacock.html is de ultime vorm van ontwerpen, zo professioneel ben ik niet. Maar ik ben al wel dagen aan het proefbreien, tekenen en rekenen. Ik wil heel graag dus een ontwerp maken, origineel, van een pauweveer voor mijn 'geheime' project.
Nu is het dus nog een kwestie van uitrekenen hoe het gaat worden, opschrijven en uitwerken. Het opschrijven van eigen ideeën is niet zo moeilijk, ik doe het het liefst op zijn engels, die afkortingen zijn makkelijker. Op zich mag het best een beetje ingewikkeld worden, het hoeft maar 4x uitgewerkt te worden, dat is te overzien.

http://www.knittingbeyondthehebrides.org/lace/peacock.html is the ultimate example for designing, but I´m not (yet) so professional. I´m still knitting examples though, calculating and writing things down. I´d like to make an original design, for a peacock´s feather for my secret project. I´m doing the notation in english, that comes naturally and the abbreviations are so quickly to write down and read back. The difficulty leavel can be a bit high, because in the end, it will be worked only 4 times.
